Tetiana Yefremova
Librarian
I graduated from the P. Chubinsky Academy of Arts, specializing in Information, Library Science, and Archiving. Since 2017, I worked as a librarian at the “Źródło” library in Kyiv. I joined Salam Lab in June 2022, initially as a volunteer at the Help Point on Radziwiłłowska 3, and later, from March 2023, as a librarian. I moved to Krakow after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began and wanted to support others in difficult situations. During my volunteer work, the idea of creating a Ukrainian mini-library came up, which was enthusiastically received by Salam Lab. Daily, I serve readers, replenish the library with new editions, and communicate with writers and bookstores. I also inform readers about cultural events in Krakow and conduct classes for children from Ukraine.
What does empathy mean to you?
Empathy is the ability to sympathize with others, transform negative emotions into positive
ones, understand another person in any life situation, and help them overcome the most
challenging conditions
Which element of Salam Lab’s mission is most important to you?
“Amplifying the voices of those experiencing exclusion.” Every person deserves to be heard
and understood, especially those ignored for various reasons. Amplifying their voices
creates a more just and equal society where everyone is noticed and can influence their
surroundings.
